Last night, I found myself reluctantly walking into a theater to watch Pushpa 2. It wasn’t my choice—my friend, eager for one last outing before his long vacation, convinced me to tag along. Having watched the trailers, I already had low expectations, but nothing could have prepared me for the chaos that unfolded on screen. What followed was an overly hyped, poorly crafted sequel that not only fails to live up to the legacy of Pushpa 1 but also tests the audience’s patience with its incoherent story, unnecessary vulgar songs, and exaggerated stunts. If this is what blockbuster cinema has come to, I’d rather stay home and rewatch Pushpa 1.

Pushpa 2 Offical Trailer – Hindi

Last night, my friend came over with an unusual excitement in his eyes. “Let’s go watch Pushpa 2,” he said. I wasn’t interested. The trailers had already given me a headache with their over-the-top action and loud dialogue. But he insisted. “I’m going on a long vacation tomorrow, and this might be the last movie we watch together for a while,” he said. Being the good friend that I am, I reluctantly agreed. What’s the worst that could happen? I thought.

Well, three torturous hours later, I had my answer.

The Storyline That Never Existed

From the very first scene, Pushpa 2 feels like a series of random events stitched together with no coherence. It’s as if the filmmakers shot whatever came to mind and forgot to check if anything connected. There’s no plot, no structure—just chaos. One minute the hero is fighting, the next he’s delivering a speech, and then suddenly, out of nowhere, a “song” starts.

Which brings me to the songs.

Vulgar and Meaningless Songs

Bollywood (and now South Indian films) have a strange obsession with throwing in unnecessary songs, but Pushpa 2takes this to a whole new low. The songs are vulgar, crass, and completely irrelevant to the story. I sat there thinking, Why? Why is this happening? They add nothing to the film but discomfort and embarrassment. In a cinema hall filled with families, these songs felt completely out of place.

A Hero Who Is Actually a Villain

Let’s talk about the protagonist—or should I say, the antagonist disguised as a hero. Pushpa’s character, already morally questionable in the first film, takes a darker turn here. He’s no longer someone you can root for. And what makes it worse? The film attempts to connect him with Sanatan Dharma sentiments. That’s not just disrespectful—it’s dangerous. Glorifying a villain under the guise of a hero and linking it to religion sends a terrible message to audiences.

Violence, Fake Stunts, and Zero Logic

If the songs and the confused morality weren’t enough, the film stretches itself with endless scenes of fake, exaggerated violence. Every fight looks like it was pulled from a comic book—except comic books are actually entertaining. The stunts are over-the-top, physics-defying, and borderline laughable. By the halfway mark, I realized that the film wasn’t going to get any better, but leaving the theater early would mean wasting the price of my ticket.

The Over-Hyped Sequel That Lost Its Way

South Indian cinema has given us masterpieces in recent years. Films like Pushpa 1 were refreshing and celebrated for their rawness. But Pushpa 2? It feels like a betrayal. Over-marketed and hyped to death, it offers nothing of value—no story, no memorable moments, and certainly no respect for its audience.

The runtime feels like an eternity. The violence is excessive. The songs are vulgar. The morality is questionable. And as for Pushpa 3? It should never see the light of day.

Not All South Indian Films Are Good

This film proves a hard truth: not every Bollywood or Hollywood movie is bad, and not every South Indian movie is good. Pushpa 2 is a disaster on every level—a product of overconfidence and hype that completely misfires. For a film with so much potential and legacy to build on, it’s a shame to see it crumble so spectacularly.

As I left the theater, my friend turned to me with a sheepish smile. “Sorry,” he said. I just shook my head. “Enjoy your vacation,” I replied.

If you haven’t watched Pushpa 2 yet, consider yourself lucky.

Pushpa 2

3.3 Score

Pushpa 2 is a sequel that trades storytelling for chaos and crumbles under the weight of its own hype. Despite Allu Arjun’s efforts, the film suffers from an incoherent plot, unnecessary vulgar songs, exaggerated stunts, and questionable cultural references. Weak storytelling, excessive runtime, and poor creative choices make this a disappointing follow-up to Pushpa 1 and a film best avoided.

  • Some visually appealing cinematography

CONS

  • Disconnected and incoherent storyline
  • Vulgar and unnecessary songs
  • Overstretched runtime with poor pacing
